According to the EPA, approximately 65% of air on the first floor off home from the crawl space.
At East Coast Crawl Space Solutions we understand that not every home is the same. We develop a customized and cost efficient solution catered to your family’s specific needs without suggesting unneeded products, up selling, or high pressured sales tactics.
Vapor barriers are the first level of defense against moisture. If you do not have a vapor barrier, covering 100% of the crawl space ground, your homes crawl space is at risk. Modern day building codes require a home have a vapor barrier covering 100% of the crawlspace ground and minimum of 6 mil thickness to pass inspection.
Full Crawl Space Encapsulation
Crawl space encapsulation, or crawl space conditioning, is the full process of sealing the crawl space beneath a house. This process is an extension of the vapor barrier. We take the moisture barrier up the foundation walls, leaving a 4” inspection gap, and wrap the piers. The process will also involve sealing any openings or vents, and if needed, adding or replacing the door of access to the crawl space. Once a crawl space is sealed you will need to either provide a conditioned air flow from your existing duct work in the form of an air inducer, or at a dehumidification system. East Coast Crawl Space provides the most efficient sealed crawlspaces, providing the homeowner with a healthy crawl space for the lifetime of the home.
Dehumidification Systems
Dehumidifiers are a popular way to control moisture in the crawl space on every level. East Coast only installs commercial grade dehumidifiers with manufacturer warranties, made specifically for the crawl space. Dehumidifiers bring many benefits including:
Dehumidifiers, accompanied with a vapor barrier reduce humidity levels, making your home less hospitable to allergens such as dust mites, mold, and mildew.
They are not disruptive to your daily life, and run quietly and efficiently in the background without most people even noticing.
Dehumidifiers help reduce odors that can accompany mold and mildew in your home—getting rid of that “musty” or “rotting” smell.
These devices help to reduce the possibility that you will develop mold on your clothing, furniture, and other linens (such as curtains or bed sheets).
Dehumidifiers reduce irritation to your skin and your respiratory system, allowing you to breathe easier and feel comfortable in your home.
A less humid environment in your home means clothing will dry faster, breads and cereals will remain fresh longer without getting stale, and you won’t find signs of rust or corrosion on things like computer equipment, electronics, and tools.
Running a dehumidifier helps reduce dust in your home, so you won’t have to clean as often.
